To get your message across to as many people as possible, you need to turn the recipients of your information into "
pushbutton evangelists."
With Twitter, for example, the core value of your Twitter account is
not actually just the number of followers (although advertisers will use
that number as a metric to determine what they are willing to pay you
to put their ads into your twitterstream and out to your audience) -- it
is actually the rate of retweeting RT-ing) of your tweets by your
readers or followers (Tweeps!), as third parties.
You want to maximize the probability of your being re-tweeted every single time you tweet.
Here are a few quick take-away clues:
1) be certain the first five words of text contain the word "you";
2) be certain that you've got a live link in the tweet;
3) Add the words "please RT" or "please retweet.";
4) Sensationalize your tweet headline; and
5)
Use your best manners -- express gratitude! Another hint: Find the
hottest-trending hastags and add at least one of them to the end of your
tweet
